Reflections on Spiritual Powers

By George A. Boyd © 2021

Q: Can you also articulate the pathway by which a person manifests a situation or circumstance in physical reality? For example, Sai Baba was reputed to be able to manifest vibhuti and gold rings, objects of jewelry. Is there a specific process by which this is done?

Or if a meditation student is trying to manifest a certain thing, is there a way to start in the higher planes and add strength and density as it descends finally to the physical?

A: The powers that Sai Baba manifested are in the Siddhi Yantras [1] of the Vishnu 3 Path. Other so-called miraculous powers of the Yogis of the First Cosmic Initiation and high initiates on Supracosmic Paths are the operation of the Siddhi Yantras. We explore what are the Siddhis and where you access them in the Mudrashram® Advanced Course in Meditation.

Please note that these powers are under the control of the ensouling entity, and unless they are released by your ensouling entity, you will not have access to them. Whether your ego pleads, you anchor suggestion, you do chants and mantras, you visualize and intend—unless the Soul releases that power, they won’t manifest.

The ego craves powers. The ensouling entity only activates those powers which are germane to its ministry, so the ego is out of luck.

Rather than seek powers, seek to know the Will of God and how you may be of service. Work on meditation mastery and readying yourself to be an instrument of the Light.

Q: Thanks for explaining. I’m not seeking powers, I’m seeking understanding, to make sense of my own experience of why things happen and how. Sai Baba is just an example of a process I don’t understand. I want to understand how all the pieces fit together and interrelate.

A: Reflect on the existing abilities you have in the Superconscious mind. Select one.

Notice:

  • (a) What environmental cue triggers it to operate?
  • (b) What you do to activate it? [For example., do you give suggestion? Do you ask the power to come forward?]
  • (c) what is the posture of your Souls’ permission that allows you to use this power?

You don’t have to go to great heights to find this… draw this power from the Abstract Mind Plane or Psychic Realm to understand how powers work. It’s really not that different than your personal will activating your talents of your Metaconscious mind—it’s just a higher octave of the will at work, an octave controlled by your ensouling entity.

We discuss more about supernatural powers in an article, “Siddhis: The Anatomy of Miracles” from which we will excerpt to give you greater understanding of this phenomenon.

Siddhis: The Anatomy of Miracles

By George A. Boyd ©2004

This article will give a brief exposition about how miracles operate from the inner Planes. For miracles to manifest, the ensouling entity must gain union with the vortex of the spiritual power, which we term the Siddhi Yantra. There are three types of union through which the Soul interfaces with the Siddhi Yantra: (1) Noetic Union, (2) Psychological Union, and (3) Direct Union.

In Noetic Union, the Soul remains detached from the spiritual power, but can choose to activate it. In this case, the Soul’s Will is anchored in the vortex of the power, and it controls how and when the power will be manifest. Here, the Soul interfaces from the power from the Soul Plane, and either permits or denies access to the power.

The Soul can allow the power to operate either through the Superconscious mind via attunement with the attentional principle; through the Subconscious mind during trance, when attention is in the astral body; or as a gift, where the ability is anchored through the Self into the physical brain.

In Psychological Union, one of the Soul’s inner vehicles is attuned to the power. Through this inner vehicle, the Soul gains intuitive understanding of how the power operates, and anchors intelligence into the vortex of this power. In this alignment, the Soul operates from the Buddhic Plane, interfacing with the power through its Illumined Mind.

Intelligence functions to focalize that power onto certain Planes; it acts as a filter to modify the energy of the Will and direct it selectively. This type of alignment is commonly used when you are using the power to work out an issue in the unconscious mind in your karmic matrix, or when you are accessing the power through an evocative technique such as reflective meditation, Agni Yoga, or process meditation.[We teach these meditations in our intermediate classes, the in-person Mudrashram® Master Course in Meditation and the by-mail and online Accelerated Meditation Program.]

In Direct Union, one of the Soul’s inner vehicles is attuned with the power through an octave of the will anchored in that vehicle and the vortex of power. Direct Union access to spiritual powers typically occurs when a nucleus of identity is unfolded out of alignment with the Soul’s axis of being. In this alignment, the power is encountered on the Causal or Mental Plane.

When you use the power in this scenario, you experience the ability to activate the power though your conscious wishes. This type of power is normally controlled by the Soul’s Will and guided by the Soul’s Intelligence; in balanced spiritual development, Noetic and Psychological Union precede and overshadow Direct Union to ensure the power is used appropriately and judiciously. If you split off a nucleus of identity from the Soul, however, you become identified with that nucleus of identity and directly access the power from the Plane on which it dwells, outside of your Soul’s control and guidance…

How Miracles Occur

The miracles that demonstrate powers over matter—such as levitation, materialization of objects from the ether, walking on water, flying, manifesting more than one body, and other superhuman feats described in the world’s scriptures—appear to arise from the interface between the Soul and the Subatomic matrix.

The miracles that demonstrate power over life—such as miraculous healing, rejuvenation, restoring sight or hearing, or resurrection of a dead body—appear to arise from the Soul’s abilities on the Lifetronic Ether.

Activation of either the Astral or the Imaginal Matrix can produce the fulfillment of prayers and dreams—and bring about the seemingly miraculous personal “transformations” to which the followers of sundry self-help, holistic healing, New Age, spiritualist, and religious sects attest and attribute to their belief system and practices.

Miracles over matter and life appear to be more common in those spiritual groups that activate a nucleus of identity, identify with it, and move it out of alignment with the axis of being, as there are more references to miracles in the scriptures and oral traditions of these groups. These groups typically produce the Direct Union type of alignment, which places fewer barriers or filters upon the activation of a spiritual power, as it is not overshadowed by the Soul’s will or modified by intelligence.

These types of miracles that arise from Direct Union initiate an impulse that activates the Subatomic or Lifetronic Matrix directly. The “miracle worker” of Direct Union sets up a resonance pattern, magnetizes a result through intention or visualization, and his results are immediately manifested in matter.

The miraculous powers of Direct Union can be awakened through using bija mantras that unfold nuclei of identity, through invocation of gods and goddesses that bestow powers, and through deep concentration that awakens nuclei of identity in the higher octaves of being in which these powers are imbedded. These levels of the mind are beyond or above the Soul’s station on the path, so the Soul’s will does not control these powers and its wisdom cannot modify or channel their use.

To control these powers, the ensouling must evolve to the stage on the Path where the power is embedded. Without bringing the Siddhi Yantra under the aegis of the Soul’s will, these powers may produce unintended consequences that can create entrapment for the “miracle worker.” We suggest it is better to focus on the spiritual evolution of the ensouling entity, and the powers that arise in its wake will be used for service and ministry to other living beings, in alignment with the Soul’s purpose, and guided by wisdom.

[1] A siddhi is a supernormal power that arises from the Superconscious mind. These siddhis operate from an inner vortex which we call a Siddhi Yantra. This vortex appears like a triangle, in which one of the higher octaves of volition either suspends or directs the use of that power. This power can be directed through either the spirit or the attentional principle; it can operate through suggestion from an inner center in the Subconscious or Superconscious mind; or it can be anchored in the personality, which allows you to voluntarily “ask” that the power be manifested. In certain cases, the ensouling entity or nucleus of identity that controls it can manifest it directly from the vortex where this power dwells.

[2] The ethers are finer levels of vibration that enable you to access aspects of Creation that exist beyond the confines of the physical universe. Beyond the substrate of the physical universe, the subatomic field, clairvoyants describe a series of finer strata that they describe as the informational ether, the resonance ether, the lifetronic or life force ether, the desire ether, the imaginal or the thought form ether, and recount yet higher levels of vibration beyond these. Through viewing these levels, clairvoyants can observe these subtle phenomena and report on what they see. Through advanced spiritual methods, meditators can access these levels using their higher octaves of volition—this appears to explain the extraordinary powers that some individuals are able to manifest.

Can the Soul influence the physical world?

On the Potential of the Higher Self
to Influence the Physical World

By George A. Boyd © 2019

Q: Some people say that the Soul cannot influence the physical world, because it is an immaterial essence. Others contend that the Soul does indeed operate on the physical world, and point to various miracles attested to in different spiritual traditions as evidence for their claims. What is correct?

A: We see there is a spectrum of postures through which the Soul relates to the personality and the world, which encompasses both of these viewpoints. Here is the range:

  1. No relationship between the Soul and the physical world and personality – during different segments of the Soul’s journey across the Continuum of Consciousness, it has an experience that it does not wish to transmit through the personality, so we see no evidence of the Soul’s activity.
  2. Correspondence – In this posture, we see the one-to-one correspondence of karma layered on the tracks behind the Soul (Adi Karma), behind the Soul’s vehicles (stored Kriyaman Karma), or in the unopened channels of the Nada (Sinchit Karma) and behavior or physical symptoms. When this karma underlying the condition is effaced, the symptoms ameliorate and disappear. Long-standing bad habits, mysterious aches and pains, and chronic illnesses can be seen to drop away as these karmic precursors are dissolved.
  3. Spiritual gift – In this scenario, the Soul anchors one or more of its abilities via an energetic connection to the physical brain, which you can access voluntarily in your waking state of consciousness, upon request. Artistic and psychic gifts commonly express through this pathway.
  4. Direction – In this type, the Higher Self directs the behavior of the personality through an inner commandment. It may overrule your choices that arise from the level of the ego and the Self, and guide your personality to carry out your Soul Purpose. This overshadowing of the personality typically occurs when your Soul undergoes the Third Planetary Initiation.
  5. Detectible change in matter and energy – The academic discipline of parapsychology has, as its mission, an inquiry to determine whether a spiritual being can create a change in matter or energy. They have studied phenomena such as moving objects with the mind (telekinesis); deformation of physical objects, like Uri Geller’s spoon bending; influence of healing energy on the growth of plants or the rate of healing of wounds; and the purported levitation of objects or the physical body, among others. When psychic powers awaken in the Soul, some people experience these phenomena spontaneously arise. A few individuals train themselves to produce them at will.
  6. Miraculous change in energy and matter – Miracles recounted in the world’s scriptures—walking on water, teleportation, manifesting food for the multitudes, and resurrecting a dead body, among many others—appear to operate from the interface with the higher volitional nexus, which we call the siddhi yantra, and the subatomic matrix substanding matter. There are many anecdotal stories of living savants and seers, who demonstrate these miraculous powers (siddhis), after having opened these strata of the mind where these potential abilities dwell. We show our students in the Mudrashram® Advanced Course in Meditation where to locate these siddhi yantras, and to assess the powers which are now available to their Soul.
  7. Transmutation of matter – in the alchemical lore of the Western mysteries and the legends of the Shaivite Siddhars, through secret methods, initiates learn to transmute lead into gold, charcoal into diamonds, and sand into precious gems. The legend of the Philosopher’s stone hints at this ability; the methods to make this stone, alas, are veiled in cryptic language and symbol—opaque to all but those who have been trained to penetrate the arcane language to identify the intimate secrets of the craft.

Most aspirants, during their spiritual journey, will experience elements of types two to five. Types six and seven are much rarer—special training is required to wrest these powers from their hidden lair, and to uncover the secrets of miracles and transmutation. We suggest that exploration of the volitional channel along its higher octaves will disclose where your potential siddhis dwell, and will allow you to determine whether your Soul has chosen to express them. We further point out that the Soul may not choose to manifest powers that have no relevance to its mission and purpose, so many miracle-manifesting abilities are left dormant as the Soul progressively journeys to the shores of Mastery and Liberation.

We train those who complete one of our intermediate classes, the in-person Mudrashram® Master Course in Meditation or the by-mail and online Accelerated Meditation Program and take the Mudrashram® Advanced Course in Meditation in accessing this volitional channel as part of our advanced Raja Yoga training.

How Is Mudrashram Different?

A Sharper Focus on What You Can Get from Our Meditation Training

By George A. Boyd ©2017

Q: There are many schools of meditation available. How is Mudrashram® different?

A: Let’s look at some of the ways that Mudrashram® is different than the existing schools of meditation.

Methods They Teach

Most meditation schools teach you one or two meditation techniques. You might learn to watch your breath or monitor your present time experience. You might receive a mantra. You might learn a breath technique that unites you with a spiritual essence. You might learn a method to meditate on the channels of the Nadamic Path—the inner light and sound.

A few schools will give you a lot of techniques, which aim to unite your attention with a particular essence of consciousness to gain “enlightenment” or they will help you unfold along a delineated Path outside the cutting edge of spirituality.

Mudrashram® gives you a whole toolbox of techniques in its intermediate classes, the in-person Mudrashram® Master Course in Meditation and the by-mail and online Accelerated Meditation Program that work at the cutting edge of spirituality.

Stress Reduction

Most meditation techniques will help you relieve stress. Meditation teachers who teach mindfulness and Vipassana release the stress at the most superficial level, the Conscious mind.

Some groups will lead your attention into the Superconscious mind, and bring about deep relaxation and stress release, but they don’t actually dissolve the causes of stress—they don’t produce transformation and remove the karmic causes of stress in the unconscious mind, so the stress returns.

Mudrashram® teaches you how to focus your attention in the immortal essences of the Superconscious mind, to pass through the Superconscious mind level-by-level, and shows you how to transform the material in the unconscious mind, so the root causes of stress drop away.

Ending Reincarnation

Many meditation schools promise to end reincarnation. What they actually do is they open one Path in the Cosmic, Supracosmic, or Transcendental Sphere, and remove the karma along that track—so whatever karma might be influencing your life from that Path and the karmic stream that is layered along that track is removed, but little to none of the karma behind where you are at the cutting edge of spirituality is moved, so it doesn’t move the needle on reincarnation at all. For example:

Adepts and Adept Masters can guide the Soul Spark and the Soul to Liberation, and end physical reincarnation—but this doesn’t end astral and causal world reincarnation.

Cosmic Masters can liberate the Astral Soul, but commonly leave the Transplanetary segment undone, so they cannot remove all of the causes of astral incarnation.

Supracosmic Gurus and Sat Gurus of the Transcendental Sphere work out aspects of your causal karma, but do not complete all of it.

Mudrashram® finishes your karma in the Subtle, Planetary, Transplanetary, Cosmic, Supracosmic, on your aligned Transcendental Path—the one contributing to your karmic stream—and you rise on the Bridge Path and T7 to the Mahatma stage, where you dissolve the final causes of karma that give rise to physical, astral, and causal incarnation.

Depth of Meditation

Many seekers pine for deep meditation, but find it evades them. Those that go to mindfulness teachers typically go no deeper than the Conscious mind, and they learn to be present and better cope with the stresses of life in everyday situations.

Other teachers lead them to enlightenment—union with the Higher Self or Soul, or with another spiritual essence—but that essence doesn’t move along its track, it doesn’t transform.

In our intermediate meditation classes in Mudrashram®, we train you in mindfulness that allows you to access your Conscious mind, meditation on the chakras of the Subconscious mind, centering methods to unite with your Self in the Metaconscious mind, and how to unite with your spirit and your Soul in the Superconscious mind, plus we show you methods to unfold the Soul and free your spirit.

Relative Spiritual Progress

Many spiritual Paths measure spiritual progress as when the spiritual essence upon which they meditate accrues virtue and holiness, and moves a few nodal points closer to the spiritual horizon that they view as the highest stage of spirituality—this is progress upon one Plane, which is called sanctification.

A few point to completion of one Path—a Yogi Preceptor leads your cosmic consciousness through the First Cosmic Initiation to become a Yogi Preceptor; a Supracosmic Guru shows you how to open an entire Supracosmic Path to the origin of your Supracosmic seed atom on that Path; or a Transcendental Sphere Sat Guru will lead your spirit to liberation on that Path and your ensouling entity will be lifted to the highest Plane.

In Mudrashram® you complete your spiritual journey in every level of the Great Continuum of Consciousness—Subtle, Planetary, Transplanetary, Cosmic, Supracosmic, and your aligned Transcendental Path—and then you rise on the Bridge Path where you gain the ability to open every Path of the Supracosmic and every Path of the Transcendental Sphere, leading to Multiplane Mastery, which is Mastery of every Path.

Spiritual Salvation

Many groups teach you to praise and worship God from afar, but don’t give you any means to move your spirit closer to the Divine Beloved.

Some identify as an essence other than the spirit, and move that essence closer to God through a meditation technique—for example, they draw nigh to the Beloved identified as a nucleus of identity, like the students of Yogi Preceptors, who identify with Cosmic Consciousness; the disciples of Cosmic Masters, who identify with the Astral Soul; or devotees of Supracosmic Gurus who identify with the Supracosmic seed atom of that Path.

Transcendental Paths show you how to free the spirit and rise to union with the Divine on one segment of the Nadamic Path, which brings about spiritual liberation or salvation for that one spiritual essence.

In Mudrashram®, we show you how to liberate the spirit and gain union with God on all twelve segments of the Nadamic Path.

Spiritual Powers

There are many groups that will teach you to use the abilities of one Plane—for example, Psychic Guides show you how to awaken your psychic and healing abilities, to channel spiritual entities, or to make basic attunements; ministers and rabbis show you how to activate the powers that the Holy Spirit bestows.

In some groups, they will give you access to all the powers that dwell upon one Path—so if you study with a Yogi Preceptor, you will learn how to access the 8 major and 56 minor powers (siddhis) of the First Cosmic Initiation; Supracosmic Gurus will give you the keys to all of the powers that are embedded along their Path.

In Mudrashram®, we teach you how to journey through every level of the Great Continuum of Consciousness, granting your ensouling entity access to the powers of every Plane of the Continuum on the Subtle, Planetary, Transplanetary, Cosmic, Supracosmic, your aligned Transcendental Path, and the Bridge Path. At the highest stage of the Bridge Path, called Multiplane Mastery, you gain the ability to open every Path, and gain access to the powers anchored in them.

If you consider these factors, you may intuit that Mudrashram® is a much more inclusive and comprehensive system than the meditation groups that currently exist.

  • Its training is unique in that it starts you at the cutting edge of spirituality, and doesn’t start you somewhere else.
  • Its range of potential development is much greater than other existing systems.
  • It does not simply unfold one spiritual essence, but unfolds each of your spiritual essences in synchrony—your Soul and spirit unfold together; your nuclei of identity and each vehicle of consciousness move along their track naturally, together with the Soul, as the Soul reaches the Plane where they dwell.
  • It does not break your connection with your personality like many other spiritual systems—where you perceive your body, your life, and the world as dream-like illusions.

We invite you to investigate the Mudrashram® system of Integral meditation to see if it resonates with your spiritual needs. We have beginning, intermediate, and advanced meditation programs, together with teacher training programs for those who reach the requisite levels of spiritual advancement and mastery of meditation methods.
