Reflections on Dhana

By George A. Boyd ©2021

Q: You use a term, Dhana, in your writing. What does this mean?

A: Dhana refers to the activation of the attentional principle or the spirit to carry out spiritual ministry. This is primarily an attunement that comes from a spiritual Master to send the Light to selected individuals; in advanced disciples that reach the Cosmic Sphere and above, this beam of overshadowing can also come from their own ensouling entity.

In Planetary, Transplanetary, Cosmic, and Supracosmic levels, the Master makes this attunement with the attentional principle; in contrast, on Transcendental Paths, this attunement is commonly made with the spirit.

For the attentional principle, we begin the training process of making attunements with our Light Sittings. Those who choose the teaching empowerment track on the Bridge Path learn a series of other attunements that can be made with vehicles of the personality, vehicles of consciousness and nuclei of identity in the Superconscious mind, spirits in different domains, and with ensouling entities of different Octaves of Being.

While we tend to think of Dhana as activating the power of attunement and conveying the Light to grant initiation—unfolding the spiritual evolutionary potentials of the ensouling entity and its vehicles—it can empower the attentional principle though any of the Seven Rays. Across the Rays, this spiritual anointing of the attentional principle can emphasize:

First Ray – Attunement, Light Ministry, conveying Initiation

Second Ray – Teaching, inspired discourse (Satsang)

Third Ray – Counseling, practical guidance for life and living

Fourth Ray – Guiding the attentional principle or the spirit on the inner Planes

Fifth Ray – Contemplation of the vehicles of consciousness and the Planes of Light, doing spiritual readings

Sixth Ray – Healing and therapy, working with the core painful issues of the heart

Seventh Ray – Coaching, revealing the stages of the Path ahead and the next steps of personal growth

When this attunement is made with the spirit, it bestows the ability to convey attunements (First Ray), to teach and give Satsang (Second Ray), to guide others (Fourth Ray), and to heal others (Sixth Ray)—it does not typically activate the capabilities of the Third, Fifth, or Seventh Ray.

When the ensouling entity encounters a new ability on the inner Planes, it encounters an inner structure we call a Siddhi Yantra. This vortex of the octaves of volition in the Superconscious mind can express in five ways:

  1. The power or ability can be ignored and not activated
  2. The ensouling entity can use its octave of volition to activate the power directly
  3. The ensouling entity can send the power through the attentional principle or spirit—this is the attunement of Dhana
  4. The ensouling entity can anchor the ability in an inner center of the Subconscious or Superconscious mind; you must travel to this inner location to activate the power
  5. The ensouling entity can anchor the ability in the personality and the brain, so you only need to ask for the power to be activated.

Dhana is an element of the advanced practice of Agni Yoga, which trains you to draw down the inner Light from your Soul and from your Supervising Initiate. As you grow spiritually and activate more of your Soul’s abilities, you expand your scope of potential ministry and your capacity to operate in the posture of Dhana.

We teach the initial practices of Agni Yoga in our intermediate meditation classes, the in-person Mudrashram® Master Course in Meditation and the by-mail and online Accelerated Meditation Program. We encourage to learn this ministry using the inner Light Fire, so you can begin to become a conscious co-worker with the Divine and work with the Masters to uplift humanity.

On the Potential Extension of Psychic Powers

By George A. Boyd © 2020

Q: What are the psychic powers?

A: These are abilities that dawn when your Soul awakens into the second Subplane of the Psychic Realm. They include:

  • Creation and destruction of thought forms
  • Etheric sensitivity to resonance and subtle vibrations
  • Clairvoyance, which is sensing of auras, the content of the unconscious mind, and visioning of entities in the inner dimensional worlds
  • Healing and ability to sense the health of the organs and tissues of the body
  • Receptive telepathy, hearing the thoughts of others and the voice of the guide
  • Active telepathy, the ability to make attunements
  • Knowledge of the eternal present (the wave of time on the Akashic Records)
  • Knowledge of past incarnations
  • Knowledge of the patterns of future spiritual development (the Plan)
  • Knowledge of the current state of evolution of the Soul

Q: Do psychic powers increase as your develop spiritually?

A: Generally, yes. There appear to be three orders of access to spiritual powers and the ability to operate them.

Level One – Energetic connection of the psychic body’s chakras with the physical brain, which leads to spontaneous “psychic flashes” or impressions

In some individuals, this connection may be made with their astral body. These ones receive these psychic impressions in hypnosis or in the dream state.

You do not experience voluntary control at this level. These impressions seem to “come out of the blue.”

Level Two – When the Soul evolves to the Psychic Realm, its transpersonal will can operate selected psychic powers voluntarily.

This appears in healers, those who make attunements, those who channel guides and other spiritual entities, and metaphysical counselors or psychic readers.

The operation of this higher octave of the will substands Psychic Realm ministry.

Level Three – This connects the chakras of the psychic vehicle with higher octaves of being—the Monad, the Astral Soul, or a Transcendental Sphere ensouling entity. Development to the Mahatma stage of the Bridge Path and beyond awakens the interpenetrating awareness, which bestows the highest sensitivity to each octave of being, and the immortal essences on the four poles of being—the attentional principle, the spirit, nuclei of identity and seed atoms of each vehicle of consciousness, and the ensouling entities at each level of the Continuum.

Opening these psychic channels to these higher octaves of being develops these gifts to the highest degree, ultimately anchoring them in the Soul of the Bridge Path and Satchitananda.

These extended powers include:

  • Inner vision, hearing, and feeling connecting the physical brain with your higher octave ensouling entities
  • Healing at all octaves of being
  • Making attunements spanning each octave of being
  • Reception of the guide’s teachings at each octave of being
  • Giving spiritual counsel as appropriate to each level of spiritual development, from the Subtle Realm to the Transcendental Sphere
  • Ability to read the current evolutionary station of the Soul and each ensouling entity at higher octaves of being
  • Awareness of past lives in other cycles of time

Those who reach these higher octaves of being must actively extend their powers through opening the plugged channels that block these higher order powers from functioning in this expanded capacity. You usually clear these channels during the development of Multiplane Mastery on the highest Plane of the Bridge Path, but some advanced disciples may do targeted inner work to develop them before this stage is reached. For example, these disciples may develop some of these extended powers at the Mahatma Stage.

We recommend that you study these three orders of psychic powers. Those of you who have Psychic Ministry written into your Soul’s crown of purpose, and who are interested in awakening these elements of your ministry, may find the Psychic Powers Workshop in the Public Section of our Public Webinar Access page to be evocative.

Evolution of Inner Work

By George A. Boyd © 2019

The ability to do sustained inner work on yourself requires that you first reach union with one of the immortal principles of consciousness within you—the attentional principle, the spirit, and the Soul. You learn this aspect of inner work in meditation.

While psychotherapeutic and hypnotic work requires your ability to isolate your attention and focus it, it does not require that you gain union with one of your immortal principles. The deeper integrative work of psychotherapy leads you to gain union with the Self and to activate its abilities—but excluding transpersonal psychotherapy modalities, activating your immortal essences is not required for these types of psychological intervention.

Inner work typically addresses physical symptoms, emotional issues, and mental problems. The deeper component required to do inner work may also require absorption and focusing of your attention, and experiencing union and identification with one or more of your immortal essences.

This ability to do inner work appears to progress through eleven stages.

  1. Fully embodied egoic stage – You experience physical symptoms, emotional issues, and mental problems, but you have no apparent means of resolving them. You may seek help at this stage, but it may be difficult initially for you to benefit from psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, or meditation, because you may have difficulties focusing your attention on your subjective experiences.
  2. Relaxation stage – You are able to release tension in your muscles. You may have some success letting go of pain in your body. You learn to relax. You may take up stress reduction modalities like Hatha Yoga or Tai Chi.

This ability to relax may take the edge off of your emotional issues, and may make your mental problems seem more manageable. After some practice of relaxation and stress release, you may be able to collect your attention and become established in the state of mindfulness.

  1. Cascade of thinking stage – You are able to process your physical symptoms, emotional issues, and mental problems using sustained attention to the selected levels of the Conscious mind where you can become aware of them arising in the present time.

These practices of monitoring the sensations, feelings, and thoughts arising in the present time are called Vipassana—Physical Vipassana monitors the sensations arising within your body awareness center; Emotional Vipassana, the emotions bubbling up in your feeling center; and Mental Vipassana, the thoughts surfacing in your mental center.

You are able to benefit from psychotherapy and hypnosis at this level. You may, however, experience difficulty moving beyond the cascade of body sensations, feelings, and thinking at this level, so you are unable to penetrate more deeply into the levels of your mind beyond these centers of the Conscious mind.

  1. Initial contemplation stage – You are able to move beyond the initial processing of your physical symptoms, emotional issues, and mental problems at these levels of your Conscious mind. You are able to consciously direct your attention along the thread of consciousness.

At this stage, you are able to focus your attention at discrete focal points and contemplate the contents arising. At this stage, you have your first experiences of meditative absorption. You are able to enter more profound states of hypnotic trance and clearer insight in psychotherapy at this stage.

  1. Inner awakening stage – As your attention continues to travel along the thread of consciousness, you encounter one of your immortal essences—your attentional principle, your spirit, or your Soul. After gaining union with this essence through repeated meditation sittings, you may eventually come to recognize this essence clearly and identify with it.

At this stage, you come to recognize your physical symptoms, emotional issues, and mental problems arise within the strata of the mind—but you discover that who you are, is separate from this content. You cease to identify yourself with illness, emotional complexes, and your problems—you have them, but you are not your physical symptoms, emotional issues, and mental problems.

  1. Transformational stage – At this level, you begin to travel through the inner Planes as your attentional principle; open the channels of the Nada as your spirit; and unfold your Soul through transformational meditation. You may learn a variety of techniques to work on your physical symptoms, emotional issues, and mental problems as your awakened spiritual essence.
  2. Illumination stage – At this level, you begin to activate your Illumined Mind. You experience a downpour of intuitive knowledge, which enables you to get to the core of your mental problems. You gain understanding, insight, and wisdom.
  3. Compassion stage – At this level, you acutely feel your own suffering and the suffering of others. You are empowered to send the Comforter to heal deep emotional pain and resolve emotional issues.
  4. Healing stage – At this level you have the ability to send the Light of Healing, which helps dissolve physical symptoms.
  5. Inner Guide stage – At this level, you gain the ability to lead the attention along the thread of consciousness to unite with the attention principle or the spirit, and to assist these essences travel along their pathways.
  6. Thaumaturge stage – At this level, you are able send attunements to unfold the Soul, and move it from nodal point to nodal point to Mastery and Liberation.

True meditation emerges at stage four. The ability to move your attention and contemplate is prerequisite to inner awakening.

You awaken your spiritual essences at stage five. This level marks the point where you shift from becoming identified with physical symptoms, emotional issues, and mental problems—and realize you are a conscious spiritual essence.

Conscious inner work becomes possible at stage six. At this point in your inner journey, you discover can work on your physical symptoms, emotional issues, and mental problems without relying upon others to guide you in working with them. You gain the ability to initiate process meditation to work on your emotional issues, to modify limiting and dysfunctional beliefs through affirmation, and to use autohypnosis to promote healthy behavioral change.

Stage six also marks the beginning of transcendence meditation, where you start to transform and awaken the powers of the Soul. When you embark on this deepest level of work, you actively accelerate your spiritual evolutionary potentials and ascend to Mastery and Liberation.

In stages seven through eleven, you become empowered to give attunements that resolve your physical symptoms, emotional issues, and mental problems; facilitate attentional absorption and awakening of your immortal essences; and support inner work and transformation.

We teach stage four in our introductory meditation class, the Introduction to Meditation Program. We review the technique of attentional movement and contemplation in our intermediate meditation classes‐the in-person Mudrashram® Master Course in Meditation and our by-mail and online Accelerated Meditation Program—and additionally teach you core stage five and six methods.

Access to stages seven though eleven of inner work, which enable you to utilize the higher levels of attunements, inner guidance—and ultimately, Thaumaturgy—occur as a result of transformational meditation. Transformation activates all of the dormant powers of your Soul and progressively leads you to spiritual Mastery.
