Off the Wheel

By George A. Boyd © 1992

Excerpted from Destiny Unfolds

The night has become day beyond the veil

Broken the gauge, the mortal scale,

The theories of religions are trampled flat,

Beyond the skies of I am That,

When bliss is the only thing left to feel,

In Eternity's Home, now off the wheel.

The pendulum of day and night,

Hung twixt a dance of rage and fright.

Where oscillate the dramas of human life,

Who, chasing desires all their life

Never discern the Only Real

And knowing Truth, step off the wheel.

These weary bones have pilgrimaged far

Seeking hidden meanings from stone and star,

Through mystic trances seeking inner Light

That reveals the Mystery, in Holy Sight.

Then tearing off that final seal

Beholding God beyond the wheel.

Long at Maya's breasts I've suckled,

Under karma's sentence knuckled,

I've wasted time in untold lives

Seeking pleasure embracing lovers and wives.

But the wound of lust is finally healed

When the seeker leaves behind the wheel.

Coming and going in so many forms,

The gods grant blessings, then disown.

The joys and miseries engrained in Fate

Are born of desires that cannot wait.

At Master's Lotus Feet the disciple kneels

And begs for Grace to overcome the wheel.
