On the Limitations of Meditation Techniques: Getting to the Infinite Stage

By George A. Boyd © 2020

“Yes, I see you are doing that technique. But does this get you to the Infinite Stage?” [1]

Each meditation has certain effects.

  1. It focuses your attention on an object of meditation.
  2. It leads your attention to a particular band of the mind—Infraconscious [2], Conscious, Subconscious, Metaconscious, Superconscious, or unconscious.
  3. It operates within certain parameters. For example, your astral body operates from the Infraconscious to the top of the Psychic Realm. A Supracosmic Path transformational mantra will unfold the Supracosmic Seed Atom of that Path from its ground state to its origin in the seventh Supracosmic chakra along that track.
  4. It is designed for a particular objective or purpose. For example, Vipassana meditation helps you become aware of the content that is arising in the present time. Using a selected mantra will enable you to become aware of the forms of the god, Ganesha.
  5. It produces a particular outcome. It might relax you, release your stress, help you gain insight, activate one of your spiritual essences, or transform a spiritual essence through dissolving karma and moving it along its track.
  6. It elicits an emotional and energetic effect. When you do the technique, you might feel peace, ecstasy, or blessedness.
  7. It develops an aspect of your mind. You integrate this aspect of your mind, and you may express it in your life. For example, if you contemplate your Moon Soul or Christ Child nucleus of identity, using a technique like practicing the presence of God, you might become aware of your connection with the Divine and the presence of the Holy Spirit ministering to you—this would inspire you to live the holy virtues and make your every action an act of worship.
  8. It activates the latent abilities contained in the inner forms of your Superconscious mind. If you embodied the form of the Saint in the First Mesoteric Initiation, you would be empowered to send the Holy Spirit to others, plus you might demonstrate one of these additional powers that are potential abilities of this form:
    • You might be able to manifest a guide form to the attentional principle or the spirit of others on the inner Planes.
    • You may be able to channel the guidance of the Holy Spirit or speak under inspiration of Prophecy
    • You could be enabled to teach others about the principles and mysteries of your faith.
    • You could become an instrument of emotional and etheric healing.
    • You could embody one or more holy virtues, and act as an exemplar for others.
    • You might demonstrate miracles.
  9. If it is a transformational technique, it may unfold a spiritual essence along its track. Methods like transformational bija mantra, Kriya Yoga—and in the Transcendental Sphere—Nada Yoga, can unfold nuclei of identity or ensouling entities.

In our book, Religions, Cults, and Terrorism: What the Heck Are We Doing?, we have laid out the ranges of meditation techniques taught in different spiritual traditions. Each of these methods taught in these traditions accomplishes a circumscribed objective, but is unable to take you all the way to the Infinite Stage. It will open a part of the Continuum, but it won’t enable you to complete all aspects of the Great Work.

How do you get to the Infinite Stage and complete all aspects of the Great Work? Here’s how we do it in Mudrashram®:

To understand where these levels are, refer to this article.

  1. From the Subtle Realm up to the top of the Supracosmic Sphere, do the Quintessence Divine Name [the transformational mantra we give in Mudrashram®] in conjunction with opening the channels of the Nada [for the spirit that dwells in the level where your ensouling entity is] to bring about balanced spiritual development.
  2. For each Transcendental Path—Transcendental portion of the Bridge Path and T1 to T7—do shepherding of the spirit, which unfolds the ensouling entity on that Transcendental Path.
  3. Do this shepherding meditation in the Transcendental Sphere for your aligned Transcendental Path, and along the entire Bridge Path [on this level, you will open any Transcendental Path among T1 to T5 that you did not open as your aligned Transcendental Path], T6, and the remainder of T7. This will get you to the Infinite Stage.

Through this program of meditation:

  • You will progressively liberate each of your spirits in the 12 domains
  • You will liberate each ensouling entity that is not engaged in enacting your Soul Purpose, or engaged in carrying out Multiplane Mastery development on the Bridge Path, T6, or T7
  • You will remove the accretions of Adi, Sinchit, and stored Kriyaman Karma from all levels of the Superconscious mind along your developmental track
  • You will activate each of your vehicles of consciousness through which your ensouling entities operate, and thereby, actualize your full spiritual potential
  • You awaken your Illumined Mind to encompass all levels of the Superconscious mind for the entire Continuum of Consciousness
  • Those that choose the teaching Empowerment track on the Bridge Path additionally activate their Form of the Disciple [3], Mahatma [4], and Multiplane Master [5] forms.
  • You can bring this realization into your life and to touch the lives of others through teaching, doing therapy, guiding, counseling, coaching, healing, doing psychic reading, or engaging in ministry—or you may express it through artistic creativity.

Those who wish to learn how to reach the Infinite Stage can start by taking one of our intermediate classes, the in-person Mudrashram® Master Course in Meditation or the by-mail or online Accelerated Meditation Program, followed by the Mudrashram® Advanced Course in Meditation. Get on board our bus: we are departing for the Infinite Stage!

Concerning Transformation on the Four Poles

By George A. Boyd © 2020

Q: I’m not clear about how transformation works in your Integral meditation system. I’m aware that if I do the mantra my Guru gave me, my cosmic consciousness moves closer to Brahman and God Realization every day. How is your approach different?

A: In our Integral meditation system, we recognize there are three distinct types of transformation: spiritual, perceptual, and personal.

Spiritual transformation includes:

  1. Pole One – Unfolding of your cutting edge ensouling entity from nodal point to nodal point along its spiritual evolutionary track. This is called Initiation.
  2. Pole Two – Your spirit opens the Nadamic channels and unites with the reflection of your ensouling entity in the Nada. [In the Transcendental Sphere, your spirit can unfold your ensouling entity through a meditation process we call shepherding.]
  3. Pole Three (A) – This is the track of balanced development. As the ensouling entity unfolds, each seed atom and nucleus of identity aligned with the ensouling entity unfolds in synchrony, in perfect correspondence to the ensouling entity on each Plane.
  4. Pole Three (B) – This is the track of imbalanced spiritual development. In this scenario, one or more seed atoms or nuclei of identity unfold outside of the axis of being, out of synchrony and alignment with the cutting edge ensouling entity.

Perceptual transformation includes:

  1. Upper Pole Four – Moving the attention and attentional principle to selected focal points in the Conscious, Subconscious, Metaconscious, or Superconscious mind awakens awareness, and opens a new perspective. The ability to reframe or revision life issues and personal problems is important for catalyzing the process of change.

Personal transformation includes:

  1. Lower Pole Four – This comprises the activity of your personal integration centers, your ego in the Conscious mind and the Self in the Metaconscious mind. Personal transformation comprises changes in your behavior and life.

Examples of personal transformation include:

  • You change your behavior and habits to improve your health and serenity
  • You learn methods to lower your stress
  • You change your emotional reactions, so don’t get upset as often and you are better able to cope with the challenges of life
  • You change your values and character, so you treat others with respect and kindness
  • You change your ability through acquiring new knowledge and skills
  • You change your ability to carry through on your objectives, so you are more effective at reaching your goals
  • You are able to better deal with anxiety, compulsions, and depression through gaining insight and moving forward in your life
  • You attain your personal dreams through persistent constructive action

We show you how to generate each of the balanced types of transformation in Mudrashram®.

In the Mudrashram® system of Integral meditation, we teach you spiritual transformation upon poles 1, 2, and 3a—and how to avoid the imbalanced approach of pole 3b.

We also show you how to bring about perceptual change through Raja Yoga, which operates on upper pole 4.

We give you tools to work on the issues of your personal life for lower pole 4, to help you generate personal transformation.

You learn these methods in our intermediate meditation classes, the in-person Mudrashram® Master Course in Meditation and the by-mail and online Accelerated Meditation Program.

While the meditation you are doing to unfold your cosmic consciousness is blissful, and brings a downpour of revelation, immersion in Divine Love, and awakens your dormant powers in the First Cosmic Initiation, what you are actually doing is adopting strategy 3b, where you are unfolding a nucleus of identity outside of the cutting edge of spirituality.

In our Integral meditation system, we do not immediately begin unfolding your cosmic consciousness. Instead we unfold it in synchrony with your Astral Soul and its other centers, and with each other octave of being.

Rather than isolating your cosmic consciousness, and moving it along its track through the First Cosmic Initiation, out of alignment with the rest of your being, we unfold it concurrently. While our system is more complex, we work on all our poles—poles 1, 2, 3a, and upper and lower 4—so you avoid creating spiritual imbalances. And that, in a nutshell, is the difference between these approaches.

Reflections on Realization

By George A. Boyd © 2020

Q: What brings about Realization? How can I move beyond simply receiving information and truly grasping the essence of what I am taught?

A: We begin the process of Realization through inquiry, or questioning.

Questioning requests an answer from the ensouling entity, when you ask your ensouling entity; from the spiritual Master, when you query him or her; and God, when you invoke Divine guidance.

When you receive information, your first task is to understand it. This process of understanding engages your intellect and your Illumined Mind (Buddhi). As you study new information, you add to your conceptual map of your own nature and the Path ahead of you. You keep revising this map, as you gather more information and have more experiences.

Whereas information layers on the thread of insight and understanding, which we call the Antakarana, experience occurs when you contact one of the ideas referenced in the information you have learned. You do this through focusing your attention, your attentional principle, or your spirit upon this idea.

Examples of these “ideas” you can experience include:

  • The meaning of spiritual ideas or “seed thoughts”
  • The content of inner vehicles of consciousness
  • The inner centers of vehicles of consciousness, such as chakras
  • The seed atom of a vehicle of consciousness
  • The movement of energy in a vehicle of consciousness, such as Prana or Kundalini
  • The array of vehicles of consciousness that your ensouling entity animates
  • Your attentional principle
  • Your spirit associated with your ensouling entity at the cutting edge of spirituality
  • Your spirit in other domains
  • Your ensouling entity at the cutting edge of spirituality
  • One of your ensouling entities at another Octave of Being
  • A personal integration center, such as the ego in the Conscious mind or the Self in the Metaconscious mind
  • A Superconscious integration center, which we call a nucleus of identity
  • A universal nexus of consciousness, such as the Holy Ghost at the entrance to the abode of the saints in the First Mesoteric Planetary Initiation, or the Supreme Light of Creation at the top of the Ideational Plane in the First Cosmic Initiation
  • A form of the Divine, such as the Father God in the First Mesoteric Planetary Initiation, or Brahman in the First Cosmic Initiation

When you experience something, you gain a new perspective on the object of meditation you focus upon:

  • You gain new information.
  • You make new connections and correlations.
  • You begin to fill in the missing pieces of the inner map of the Continuum you are building.

With each new experience, you gain insights, and begin to truly know the essence of the idea you have used to lead you to the object of meditation. So for example, you truly recognize what is your ego, what is the Self, or what is your attentional principle—you truly grasp the essence to which the idea or concept points you.

The next order of processing is Realization, or enlightenment. Realization means that you know something, because you are one with it:

  • You know your Soul directly, because you are the Soul.
  • You know your attentional principle directly, because you are the attentional principle.
  • You know your spirit directly, because you are your spirit.

Realization is not description [information] or attentional union [experience]; it is identity. You know the essence because you are one with it.

As you progress upon the Path, you come to know the nodal points, Subplane and Plane markers, and the forms of the Divine that operate on each level, as your cutting edge ensouling entity actually traverses this terrain—you know each aspect of the Path, because you have taken each step upon it.

Q: What allows you to know what your ensouling entity has realized?

A: The key that allows you to release the Soul’s knowledge, to open its Buddhic capsule, is Samadhi. When you turn the four outgoing streams back to their core, there is an inner explosion of Realization that takes place: this is the Illumination that takes place during Samadhi.

We teach you how to generate Samadhi at the level of the Soul and each higher Octave of Realization in the Samadhi Week Program. Those who complete the Mudrashram® Advanced Course in Meditation are eligible to take this class.

So when you can achieve Atma Samadhi at the level of the Soul, you can extend this to higher Octaves of Being. This opens the full spectrum of Realization, which includes your Monad, Astral Soul, Supracosmic Soul, the Soul of the Bridge Path, and each of the ensouling entities of Transcendental Paths one to seven.

Q: What if I have difficulty in experiencing Samadhi?

A: Like any skill, it takes time to master it. If it is important to you, you will devote the time to reach Samadhi.

It won’t come instantly, but in time, you will get it. This will allow you to truly know and realize what you’ve opened on the Path. It won’t be conjecture or speculation; you will genuinely know.

Q: What happens if the ensouling entity I’m meditating upon has been liberated?

A: You’ll know the Source from which this ensouling entity has emanated—and the complete Path of the ensouling entity, from beginning to end. In this vortex of Creation from which your ensouling entity has originated, you will also intuit the other ensouling entities that dwell at that level, and their distance from the Source.

If you’ll reflect upon these three levels—information, experience, and Realization—you’ll be able to differentiate them. With practice, you will begin to be able to shift between them at will, when it is appropriate to operate at that level.
